Biography

Clarisse Planchais is a young soprano from Brittany, France. She recently graduated from the Prince Claus Conservatorium in Groningen, where she studied with Hanneke de Wit. Prior to that, she trained at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris (CNSMDP) with Valérie Guillorit, and earned her Diplôme d'études musicales with honors from the Conservatoire de Cergy-Pontoise under the guidance of Jean-François Rouchon.

She has taken part in various stage projects across Europe, including as a choir singer in Animal Farm by Alexander Raskatov at both the Dutch National Opera and the Wiener Staatsoper. She has performed the role of Dido in Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas with the Luthers Bach Ensemble, the First Conversa in Puccini’s Suor Angelica with the Nootstroom Orchestra, and La Chouette and La Bergère in Ravel’s L’Enfant et les Sortilèges at the Théâtre Équestre de Bretagne.

Clarisse enjoys exploring a wide range of repertoire, from Baroque to contemporary music. In 2023, she gave a French baroque recital with the Noordelijk Barokensemble. In 2025, she performed five mélodies by Duparc with orchestra at De Oosterpoort in Groningen and De Harmonie in Leeuwarden. Her operatic roles studied include Anne Truelove (The Rake’s Progress), Cendrillon (Cendrillon), Musetta (La Bohème), Gretel (Hänsel und Gretel), Adele (Die Fledermaus), Juliette (Roméo et Juliette), Pamina (Die Zauberflöte), Zerlina (Don Giovanni), Ilia (Idomeneo), Cleopatra (Giulio Cesare), and Dido (Dido and Aeneas).

Her artistic development has been enriched by masterclasses and academies with renowned artists such as Patricia Petibon, Ruggero Raimondi, Maarten Koningsberger, Paul McNamara, and Elisabeth Scholl. She also participated in the International Lied Festival of Zeist, where she worked with Elly Ameling, Robert Holl, Roderick Williams, and Iain Burnside.

Clarisse has received encouragement through several prizes, including the Miluska Duffková scholarship and two awards at the International Opera Competition Raymond Duffaut: the Young Hope Prize and the Prize from the French Centre for Lyrical Promotion. She was also a finalist in the Grachten Festival Competition.

In September 2025, she will join the Dutch National Opera Academy in Amsterdam, where she will continue her vocal studies with Hanneke de Wit.
